Here we have available, a ready to run 5" Gauge Britannia 4-6-2 Pacific.
Based upon a Winson/Modelworks kit,.... shudder,.... but professionally sorted out and finished to a good standard. So this is one that actually works!
This loco started life as one of the early Britannia kits, being built up originally by Mr C. Plumbley of Alverstone on the Isle of Wight. After a few years of minimal service it was then subjected to a professional rebuild where the usual kit loco issues were all straightened out and the opportunity was taken to give it a few of the nice Doug Hewson detailing bits and a nice fresh coat of BR fully lined out paintwork, transforming it into a good looking and reliable loco.
It has the usual professionally built silver soldered copper boiler with twin water gauges. The drain cocks are the automatic pressure relief type, the motion is correctly fluted with the coupling rods unfluted as they should be. She is fitted with two valve gear operated mechanical lubricators, one feeding each cylinder, there is an eccentric driven feed pump with a footplate operated water feed isolation valve. The loco is fitted with an injector, and a footplate operated steam brake. There is also the usual additional water feed emergency hand pump hidden in the tender.
Good boiler history with the original Modelworks boiler Certificate No.497, dated 20th December 2006. Hydraulic tested 200 psi and Working pressure 90 psi. Also Certificate of Test from, 16th March 2012. Hydraulic 145 psi and Working pressure 90psi. It can of course come with a full new and current boiler certificate if you would like.
